Orr, Dignam has vast experience, having been instrumental in setting up and advising on many industrial projects including fertilizers plants, cement plants, refineries, oil terminals, pipelines, food/grain terminals, electrical power generation plants, mass transit projects etc. The Firm’s practice includes renewable and non-renewable projects under the various power policies, including under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Firm advised on the incorporation of the first Islamic-financed wind power projects, which won Project Finance Deal of the Year, 2012. The Firm has also assisted clients in establishing IPPs in the thermal, solar power and hydro-electric power sectors and advised clients in relation to nuclear power and on the legal framework for the development of mega hydropower projects in Pakistan. The Firm has an established energy practice, including upstream oil and gas work in connection with exploration, concessions and operating agreements and licenses. The Firm acts for a number of refineries and has been involved with contracts relating to long distance pipeline projects, including the cross-border USD 10 billion TAPI project and the USD 2 billion PakStream project. The Firm has also advised international real estate and infrastructure developers, including Emaar and Majid Al Futtaim Group, and is acting for Barrick Gold Corporation in relation to the Reconstituted Reko Diq Project, which is the largest foreign direct investment in Pakistan.
