MMM’s International Trade Group represents multinational businesses, U.S. importers, and foreign governments, as well as some of the world’s largest foreign producers, before regulatory and judicial entities, including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. MMM also has an active practice in World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute resolution and represents clients before WTO panels and appellate bodies.
The attorneys have been involved in hundreds of U.S. trade remedy proceedings over the last 25 years, including antidumping and countervailing duty investigations, suspension agreements, unfair import practices (Section 301), national security (Section 232) actions, and “escape clause” or “safeguard” (Section 201) actions, on behalf of domestic and foreign corporations, state-owned enterprises, and foreign governments. In the past year, MMM has obtained multiple exclusions to Section 232 duties and Section 301 duties on behalf of several different clients.
In addition to steel, the group works with clients in multiple industries with a diverse number of products, including lumber, lawn mowers, vanadium, chemicals, quartz, paper, shrimp and wire rod. MMM's proactive approach and unparalleled knowledge ensures new and long-term clients stay informed, make sound business decisions, and minimize U.S. duty liability.
