LCWP is a leading firm where disputes relating to competition law are concerned. This typically involves issues of enforcement, investigations and determination of infringements of provisions under the Malaysian Competition Act 2012 before the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC), Competition Appeals Tribunal (CAT) and/or the courts.
The regulator on anti-trust and competition law related matters in Malaysia, namely MyCC, engages LCWP and its lawyers almost exclusively (for about 95% of its cases) in terms of disputes before the CAT and/or the courts. The competition law practice group of LCWP is led by Kwan Will Sen (partner), with Dato’ Lim Chee Wee (senior partner) also involved in more contentious and appellate level competition law disputes. Another notable practitioner of competition law within LCWP is Muayyad Khairulmaini (senior associate), as a rising star in this field.
All of the leading and landmark cases on competition law in Malaysia thus far are led and argued by LCWP on behalf of MyCC. LCWP represented or is representing MyCC in various high-profile competition law cases, against among others, these parties – Grab Inc, Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia Berhad, Central Bank of Malaysia, Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (i.e. the association of general insurers in Malaysia, and all insurance companies in Malaysia (e.g. AIA, Chubb, AIG, etc), MyEG and others.
