The Family team is experienced in handling the most complex and sensitive of matters and can provide advice on all aspects of the law and the best way of resolving disputes concerning couples, families and their relationships. We also advise clients on starting a family, which can be incredibly exciting, but also a very stressful time.
We specialise in financial remedy cases with highly complex issues. Such cases often require the expertise of other professionals either within the firm (trust, corporate, property) or external actuaries and forensic accountants.
Protecting assets through pre-nuptial agreement and advising on declaration of trusts and cohabitation agreements is becoming an increasingly important part of our work.
Our work in children cases with an international dimension (disputed contact/residence and surrogacy) continues to grow. The team enjoy a reputation for acting in international surrogacy cases and drafting donor agreements.
Alternative dispute resolution (in the form of mediation and collaborative law) is becoming an increasingly important part of our practice. Jane Porter has a growing practice in this area including direct access to children in mediation. Joanne is also a trained mediator and Jane is a trained arbitrator.
Joanne is a Resolution accredited specialist in Private Children Law and Financial Remedies.
