LALIVE’s UK-wide international arbitration practice represents multinational corporations, investors, States, State entities and international organisations in complex commercial and investor-State disputes. Based in London and integrated with Geneva and Zurich, the team conducts ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL, LMAA, Swiss Rules and ad hoc arbitrations across a range of seats and governing laws. The practice has broad experience in construction and infrastructure, energy, mining, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, financial services, technology, insurance, and shareholder and joint venture disputes. It handles matters from pre-arbitral strategy through written and oral advocacy, hearings and awards, as well as related set-aside, annulment, recognition, enforcement and anti-suit proceedings. Team members also sit as arbitrators, bringing insight into tribunal decision-making. Recent highlights include securing the dismissal of a USD 6.7 billion ICSID claim against Romania, with Romania awarded all arbitration costs, and a USD 330 million award for GreenX Metals in parallel treaty arbitrations seated in London and Singapore. On the commercial side, the team continues to coordinate Gate Gourmet’s post-award strategy following a favourable award in a USD 1.75 billion ICC dispute, including successful challenge and enforcement proceedings in Singapore and Korea. The practice also represents Ruby River Capital in a pending USD 750 million NAFTA/USMCA claim against Canada.
