Overview

Reflecting the type of work that dominates the dispute arena in Qatar, we have built a team with considerable experience of heavyweight commercial litigation, including expertise in construction disputes. We are also known in Qatar for our ability to handle both local and international arbitration disputes as well as local court proceedings. This growth in reputation has led to a number of instructions on arbitration related matters.

As only Qatari advocates can appear in the Qatari courts, most of our competitors have to instruct local practitioners to handle court matters. We have reduced the time, uncertainty and expense of sourcing external advocates by building a relationship with the leading Qatari legal practice of Sami Abu Shaikha Advocate & Legal Consultants. Sami appears on behalf of our clients in the local courts and is fully integrated into our team, rather than simply being drafted in to handle the ‘local’ aspects of the work. This ensures consistency of service, transparency on costs and flexibility of approach from the outset of a matter.

We have a team of over 100 lawyers in seven offices across five countries in the UAE (Abu Dhabi and Dubai), Jordan (Amman), Qatar (Doha), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh; Mohammed AlDhabaan & Partners in association with Eversheds Sutherland), and in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (Baghdad and Erbil). Our lawyers are qualified to practice in Middle Eastern jurisdictions, England and Wales, and the US.
