About
Provided by Colin Biggers & Paisley
Our planning, government, infrastructure & environment group advises private and public sector clients on environmental planning and approval processes, liabilities under environmental legislation, and incident response. We assist with waste law, biodiversity, native title, environmental due diligence, and statutory processes, partnering with state and local governments, developers, and engineering firms on major projects across infrastructure, mining, energy, transport, water, and waste sectors.
In property, construction, and corporate transactions, we provide risk management advice for environmental liabilities. Beyond regulatory guidance on Australian environmental law and policy, we regularly:
- Navigate “nature positive” and biodiversity reforms at federal and state levels
- Advise on EPBC Act 1999 matters and government funding opportunities
- Support commercialisation of energy and water infrastructure projects
- Draft and negotiate agreements for environmental and water markets, offsets, biodiversity, and conservation
- Assist with environmental incidents, investigations, and prosecutions
- Secure approvals and licences for regulated activities
- Review environmental assessments for major projects and operational risk procedures
- Develop and improve climate change risk assessments, sustainability frameworks, and management plans
- Advise on compliance and prosecutions under the Dangerous Goods (Road and Rail Transport) Act 2008 (NSW)
