About

Provided by Bindmans LLP

Bindmans’ media department provides expert advice and representation in libel, privacy, data protection and copyright disputes. We represent individuals from the arts, television and politics (including numerous former cabinet members) and individuals with no previous public profile who find themselves caught up in a media storm. Tamsin Allen had a critical role in the phone-hacking litigation, representing large numbers of claimants and co-ordinating the group of lawyers bringing the legal claim and representing 70 Core Participant Victims in Module 2 of the Leveson Inquiry.

We litigate cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court and we receive superb feedback from our clients and counsel. We act on CFA’s with ATE insurance so that everyone has access to justice in a legal dispute against powerful newspapers or broadcasters.

We also represent publishers, in particular small publishers and campaign organisations which now find themselves exposed to new legal risks as a result of their websites and social media presence. We advise Amnesty International, Greenpeace, and a range of smaller charities and campaign organisations.

Uniquely, Bindmans is also able to offer expertise in crime, family, employment, immigration, police actions and public law. The breadth of our expertise means that we can instantly marshal a bespoke interdisciplinary legal team to manage a crisis quickly and cost-effectively.
