Baker McKenzie's Tokyo Dispute Resolution Practice is a market leading team comprising both Japanese and foreign lawyers. Our team is chaired by Yoshiaki Muto and supported by partners Takeshi Yoshida, Toshio Ibaraki, Ryosuke Tateishi, Akira Inoue, Tomohisa Muranushi , Hideyuki Yamamoto, Hiroshi Kasuya, Daisuke Tatsuno and Junko Suetomi and counsel Masami Sakai and Dominic Sharman. We have more than 15 Japanese lawyers (bengoshi) and foreign lawyers (gaikokuho jimu bengoshi) focusing on all aspects of dispute resolution, including cross-border litigation, international commercial arbitration, compliance investigations (including those under the US FCPA and UK Anti-Bribery Act) and domestic litigation. This bengoshi/gaiben collaboration makes up a large part of the Firm's overall presence in Tokyo.
As the largest international firm dispute resolution team in Tokyo, we handle a more extensive variety of international and domestic litigation, arbitration and compliance matters than most of our competitors. Our track record in contentious matters is unrivalled. In cases where adversarial litigation or arbitration may not be in the best interests of clients, however, our skilled professionals are experienced in guiding clients through negotiations in an effort to resolve and settle matters amicably. Our goal is always to provide our clients with speedy, cost-efficient, and effective solutions in a manner that puts clients' needs first.
