About

Provided by Baker McKenzie

Our Tokyo Construction practice is part of our Projects Group which consists of more than 10 professionals – one of the largest energy and longest standing natural resources dedicated energy and natural resources legal teams in Japan that focuses on sponsor/project work. We are unique among international law firms in Japan in having a large team of both foreign (US – New York, Washington DC and Ohio; England; Australia – New South Wales and Queensland; New Zealand; Hong Kong) and Japanese law qualified lawyers, allowing us to handle both outbound (i.e. for Japanese clients investing outside Japan) and inbound and domestic project work (for foreign and Japanese clients investing in Japan).

Our team are all multi-lingual, with languages spoken including Japanese, English, Korean, Thai, Hindi and Gujarati. With these capabilities, we have built a market-leading practice, acting for both Japanese and foreign clients across the entire projects spectrum (something we believe few other foreign or Japanese law firms have been able to achieve in Japan). Apart from energy and resources, the group has considerable experience in the infrastructure and construction sectors.
