Thommessen has one of Norway’s largest intellectual property law teams, and assists Norwegian and international clients with advice and dispute resolution in matters relating to patents and trademarks, copyrights, marketing law and the protection of trade secrets.

Our lawyers provide clear and practical advice to a range of industries in a complex and challenging field of Law.

We have extensive dispute resolution experience, and have been involved in multi-jurisdiction patent disputes, litigation on fundamental copyright and trademark law issues, as well as disputes concerning the misuse of trade secrets. We often assist proprietors with the enforcement of own rights, the protection of trade secrets and the assessment of third-party rights. On a daily basis we advise major Norwegian and international players on intellectual property law issues in transactions, and we also assist and resolve disputes concerning unfair competition, product copying consumer legislation and other marketing law issues.

We understand the strategic and commercial needs of our clients, and tailor our advice accordingly. Many instructions involve high-value assets and span several jurisdictions. We are keenly aware of the importance of project management and close cooperation with the client. We use simple digital project management and document processing tools to improve workflow efficiency and ensure involvement, transparency and predictability for Clients.
