Yoon & Yang LLC has hired three Senior Foreign Attorneys, Jason W. Lee (U.S.-qualified), Song Feng Hong (China-qualified) and Sung Jin Ro (U.S.-qualified), in anticipation of further strengthening the firm’s cross-border capacity. Yoon & Yang looks forward to expanding its presence in the global market by engaging in more cross-border work across industries and providing exceptional service to fulfill clients’ needs.

 

Jason W. Lee is an expert in mergers & acquisitions. During his ten years of experience at Kim & Chang, he advised many companies regarding international trade and customs matters in addition to representing multinational companies in a variety of M&A transactions including outbound and inbound investments and joint ventures. Most notably, Jason W. Lee advised Allianz on its sale of Allianz Korea to the Anbang Group in 2017 and a consortium led by POSCO on its acquisition of a minority interest in the ArcelorMittal Mines Canada mining business in 2013.

 

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Jason W. Lee worked at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the U.S. While working at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in Silicon Valley, Jason W. Lee advised Google on its acquisition of YouTube in 2006 and advised Hellman & Friedman on its acquisition of Getty Images, Inc. in 2008. During his time at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York, among the transactions he worked on for international enterprises and private equity and hedge funds, he advised Sport Brands International on its sale of Fila Korea in 2005.

Jason W. Lee received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2000 and his A.B. from Brown University in 1996. He has been a member of the New York Bar since 2001.

 

Song Feng Hong is an expert in corporate law, international arbitration and China-related legal matters. During his 15 years at Bae, Kim & Lee, Song Feng Hong represented Korean and Chinese clients across a broad spectrum of international arbitrations, including representing a Korea-based food company in an ICC arbitration in Hong Kong over a dispute involving a Korea-China joint venture based in China. In addition, Song Feng Hong provided legal advice to small- and medium-sized domestic enterprises as well as large multinational corporations in their inbound and outbound transactions, including advising Hyundai Motor Company on its joint venture project with a Chinese state-owned company in Sichuan Province . He has also extensively advised Chinese companies regarding their investments in Korea.

Song Feng Hong received his LL.B. from Peking University in 2000. He has been a member of the China Bar since 2001.

 

Sung Jin Ro has joined Yoon & Yang after extensive experience in technology-driven industries, including his previous positions at Jusung Engineering, Emerson Automation Solutions Korea and, most recently, Versum Materials Korea, a global material manufacturer for the semiconductor and display industries.

 

Sung Jin Ro worked at Versum Materials Korea from 2016 and, as general counsel, he comprehensively supervised legal affairs, including labor management, post-merger integration and foreign direct investments. Prior to working at Versum Materials Korea, Sung Jin Ro was a senior contract and compliance officer at Emerson Automation Solutions Korea. He was in charge of providing legal advice within the company, reviewing legal contracts, operating the company’s compliance programs, and handling communications between the group’s headquarters and the Korean subsidiary. At Jusung Engineering, a leading semiconductor/photovoltaic manufacturing tool maker based in Korea, Sung Jin Ro was the head of the legal affairs team and handled labor conflicts, supplier relationships, and government affairs regarding new regulations affecting the company.

 

With his hands-on experience as general counsel handling the A to Z of legal processes that in-house counsel are engaged in, Sung Jin Ro has a deep understanding of the concerns of in-house counsel. At Yoon & Yang, he looks forward to fully leveraging his experience to provide outstanding service to clients utilizing this insider’s perspectives while deploying the specialized expertise that outside counsel can bring to matters.

 

Sung Jin Ro received his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2007 and his B.A. from Yonsei University in 1997. He has been a member of the New York Bar since 2008.
