We’re delighted to have advised one of the UK’s longest-running game development studios, Climax Studios, on its sale to Keywords Studos in a deal worth up to £43m.
Corporate partner Ciaran Hickey led a cross-departmental team and was principally assisted by Gerard Lee and Alex Kyrtsoudis. The broader team included Paul Gardner, Sue Crawford, Seth Roe, Charis Shakespeare and James Hope.
Karl Jeffery, Founder of Climax Studios said “Wiggin and our directors quickly formed into a seamless team and we worked together as one to get this complex transaction completed at breakneck speed. In my 35-year career as an entrepreneur, I have worked with several top law firms on projects of various sizes, and I can honestly say that Wiggin is by far the most professional, knowledgeable, diligent, and hardworking of them all. Just as importantly they are exceptionally nice people, and it was a genuine pleasure to work with them all.”
Climax Studios has an extensive history in developing all kinds of digital experiences across all formats, delivering entire games, through to co-development, porting and technological problem solving.
Keywords Studios is an international technical and creative services provider to the global video games industry. The acquisition furthers Keywords’ strategy and will bring significant additional scale to Keywords Studios’ game development service line.
As the latest in a series of transactions recently completed in this space, Wiggin’s corporate team continues to grow its reputation as a trusted advisor for strategic digital media and technology deals.
