White and Williams Financial Restructuring and Bankruptcy associate, Andrew E. Arthur, has been selected for the 2024-25 class of mentees for the American Bankruptcy Institute's (ABI) Diversity Group Mentorship Program. The program seeks to build personal and professional relationships while promoting diversity and leadership within ABI. It also provides young professionals in the bankruptcy and restructuring industry with professional development opportunities by connecting them with past ABI presidents and members.

ABI is the largest multi-disciplinary, nonpartisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency. ABI was founded in 1982 to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues. The ABI membership includes nearly 10,000 attorneys, accountants, bankers, judges, professors, lenders, turnaround specialists and other bankruptcy professionals. The organization provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information in this field.

To be considered for this program, attorneys need to go through an application and interview process and fulfill base requirements. These requirements include a membership to ABI, four to ten years of professional experience, and be a part of one of the following categories: identifying as a member of a traditionally underrepresented group in the restructuring profession; experiencing or overcoming a physical, social or economic disadvantage or cultural impediment; or supporting the ABI’s goal to address traditional underrepresentation in the restructuring profession.

Selected attorneys will participate in bi-monthly meetings that address a variety of topics with resources from ABI and members of the restructuring community, including judges, trustees, attorneys and financial professionals. These meetings provide opportunities to interact with other experienced insolvency professionals, and an educational program that discusses important topics in the mentees’ professional development.
