Asian Legal Business magazine (ALB) has named Mr. Wei (David) Chen, Managing Partner and Head of Cross-border Transactions, among the “2018 ALB Top 15 M&A Lawyers in China”, a feature that appears today in the March 2018 issue of the magazine. The Chinese edition of ALB is a trade magazine for the corporate legal community in China covering law firm news and corporate transactions.
The magazine cited Mr. Chen's track record in supporting private equity funds and central state owned enterprises in outbound investments in semiconductors, mining, TMT, renewables, and healthcare in a great diversity of jurisdictions. Notable deals have included advising as lead counsel in the acquisition of Nexteer, a US-based auto parts supplier from General Motors, in one of the earliest major Chinese outbound transactions. Mr. Chen was also lead counsel in the acquisition of Mattson Technology, a Nasdaq-listed semiconductor equipment manufacturer, by delisting and take private. He has also advised investment consortium members in the acquisition of the Standard Products Unit from NXP Semiconductor and the take private of Qihoo 360. The latter transaction won an ALB transaction award in 2017.
Mr. Chen has been recognized for his M&A expertise. He is listed as among the top domestic M&A/Corporate lawyers in the 2018 editions of Chambers & Partners Asia and Global guides and named as a leading domestic M&A lawyer in the latest Legal 500 directory.
