The last few years have been marked by significant achievements and growth for Vella Pugliese Buosi e Guidoni Advogados, Dentons’ strategic alliance in Brazil. The firm has expanded its presence with the opening of new offices in major cities across Brazil and strengthened its team with the arrival of new partners and of counsels in strategic areas.
Now they start 2026 with another excellent news: the arrival of Thales Saldanha Falek as the new partner of the Tax team at Vella Pugliese Buosi e Guidoni Advogados in Brasília city.
Thales focuses his practice on the intersection of tax law, agribusiness, foreign trade, and tariff policy, with over a decade of experience in strategic litigation, regulatory consulting, and institutional relations. At VPBG in Brasília, he will lead initiatives before federal administrative bodies, with an emphasis on the Executive Branch (Ministry of Finance, MAPA, MDIC, Camex), the Judiciary (Superior Courts), and other regulatory entities that influence Brazilian fiscal and commercial policy.
His academic background includes a master's degree in Economic and Financial Law from the University of São Paulo – USP (in progress) and an MBA in Tax Management from FIPECAFI. Throughout his career, he has worked at Leading law firms in Brazil, with a strong focus on practices involving administrative and judicial litigation. He has also led strategic demands related to public tax policies, tax incentive models, special regimes for agribusiness, and disputes of great economic impact involving ICMS, PIS/Cofins, tax classification, customs regimes, and taxation of the agro-industrial chain.
“My role will focus on regulatory and institutional coordination with the Federal Executive; monitoring tariff policies, tariff exemptions, NCM codes, deferral regimes, and incentives for the agribusiness sector; technical dialogue with autonomous agencies, technical committees, regulatory agencies, and entities in the agribusiness chain; strategic support in judicial and administrative proceedings before higher courts and federal adjudicating bodies; and the development of innovative tax solutions with a direct impact on the business environment of agribusiness and foreign trade,” highlights Thales Saldanha Falek.
“Thales’ arrival strengthens our Tax team at our Brasília office and strategic areas such as agribusinesses, foreign trade, and tariff policy. Furthermore, it expands our institutional presence in the federal capital and intensifies our engagement with federal administrative bodies,” says founding partner Antonio Carlos Guidoni Filho.
