Thomson Geer is advising Battery Energy, a company based in Western Sydney, as they work with renewable energy storage company Gelion on a new kind of battery that uses a gel to overcome the limitations of traditional batteries.
In particular, we acted for Battery Energy on its negotiation and finalisation of manufacturing arrangements with Sydney university spin-out Gelion. Gelion are developing a new storage battery which uses a specially designed gel, which removes the need for expensive cooling and fire suppression systems.
A manufacturing pilot of these new batteries will be undertaken at Battery Energy's premises in Fairfield, NSW. The parties are targeting to move to a full scale operation to supply the product in Australia by the end of next year.
The Thomson Geer team consisted of partner Jason Marcus and associate Hansel Tsang.
