SyCipLaw Senior Partner Rose Marie M. King-Dominguez has been appointed as the head of the Firm's Special Projects Department, effective September 1, 2024. She succeeds Rocky Alejandro L. Reyes, who retired in August 2024 and who will continue to serve as Of Counsel to SyCipLaw.
Rose is an M&A, investments, and commercial law practitioner specializing in technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT). She helped found the SyCipLaw TMT practice group, developing it into a Tier 1 ranked team that advises key global and local leaders in technology and related emerging issues. She is also a leading privacy and data expert who has supported numerous clients in compliance, assessments, and training.
With a career spanning over three decades, she has been involved in some of the most significant M&A and investment projects in the country, and in various industries such as retail, e-commerce, health, bioscience, and tower and telecommunications infrastructure. Rose's experience also covers appellate work and she was, among others, involved in the successful appeal in a leading trademark and unfair competition case in the Supreme Court.
She has been consistently ranked by leading legal ranking institutions, including Chambers Global, Chambers Asia Pacific, The Legal 500, asialaw, IFLR1000, and Lexology as a distinguished and highly recommended practitioner in Corporate/M&A, TMT, Fintech & Blockchain, and Data. She was recently named one of the top technology lawyers in Asia by Thomson Reuters' Asian Legal Business.
Rose was the editor of the Philippine Law Journal and the IBP Journal, has taught in the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law and the Lyceum of the Philippines University College of Law, and is a trustee of the UP Women Lawyers' Circle, Inc. (UP WILOCI), a women lawyers' public service organization focused on advocacy of women's and children's rights. She is a published professional translator of poetry.
