The Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb) recently held its annual golf tournament at the Tagaytay Highlands Golf & Country Club co-sponsored by SyCipLaw. The tournament had over 40 players participating in the tournament, including SyCipLaw senior partner and Litigation Department head Ricardo Ma. P.G. Ongkiko, partners Anthony W. Dee, Ronald Mark C. Lleno, and John Christian A. Regalado, with associates Julia Inez M. Blando, Rafael Miguel A. Hernandez, Christian Michael A. Perreras, and Jose Maria C. Ramos.

Other players in the tournament were lawyers from other law firms, arbitrators, business executives, members of PIArb, and other professionals. Awards were given to players who had the lowest gross scores and lowest net scores in Classes: A, B, C, and the Ladies Divisions. Mr. Lleno was the Class B Champion during the event. The participants also got the chance to win prizes during the activity’s raffle draw.

The golf tournament aims to connect lawyers, arbitrators, business leaders, corporate executives, professionals, and other users of arbitration as a mode of dispute resolution for a day of friendly competition and networking opportunities.

The PIArb Golf Tournament is also one of the means by which PIArb raises funds to finance its key projects for the year. PIArb, as the first learned society in the Philippines, has been and continues to be at the forefront of promoting alternative modes of dispute resolution in the country. Other gold sponsors of the event were Quisumbing Torres, ACCRALAW, with MOSVELDTT Law as a silver sponsor.
