SyCipLaw's Banking, Finance and Securities (BFS) Department, with the support of officers of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), organized a visit for the firm's BFS lawyers to the bourse's offices at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The activity, meant to provide associates with a deeper insight as well as more practical understanding of PSE operations, is part of the BFS department's training program.
The visit started at the PSE Museum, where Mr. John G. Garcia, Head of the Business Development Department and OIC of the Market Education Department, provided the group with a short history of the bourse, noting how it was established through the merger of its predecessors, the Manila Stock Exchange and the Makati Stock Exchange. Ms. Mica Ella N. Cu, Head of Corporate Planning and Research Department, then discussed the trading operations of the stock exchange. This was followed by a session on key legal and regulatory issues where Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Roel A. Refran shared valuable updates and insights regarding Philippine financial markets.
