SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan (SyCipLaw) was formally introduced as a member of Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), during PBSP’s annual members’ meeting and 49th founding anniversary celebration held last January 28. SyCipLaw is the first Philippine law firm to be admitted as a member of PBSP.

Founded in 1945, SyCipLaw is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2020. A sharpened focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility is a cornerstone of its celebration.

PBSP is a business-led, non-governmental organization that aims to contribute to sustainable development and poverty reduction in the Philippines. Through its projects, PBSP promotes and encourages the involvement of the private sector in addressing social issues in various areas, including health, education, environment, and livelihood and enterprise development. Currently, the organization has around 263 members nationwide.

With its PBSP membership, SyCipLaw aims to strengthen its commitment to creating a positive impact for its clients, the community (both internal and external), and the country. Guided by its core values of excellence, integrity, solidarity and stewardship, SyCipLaw strives not only to deliver exceptional legal services and practice law with integrity, but also to operate its business in a manner consistent with its economic, social and environmental responsibilities.

Prior to its PBSP membership, SyCipLaw has actively engaged in pro bono legal work (including those undertaken in partnership with the TrustLaw Foundation) and in community outreach work, such as PBSP’s “Ready for School” and “Sa Pagbasa, May Pag-Asa” projects, the community-based feeding program of the Advancement for Rural Kids (ARK), and the annual Christmas celebration with patients of the hematology and oncology section of the Philippine General Hospital, Department of Pediatrics.
