SSEK has assisted PT Angkasa Pura I (“AP I”) in the conclusion of a Joint Operation Agreement between AP I and PT Surya Dhoho Investama (“SDHI”), a subsidiary of PT Gudang Garam Tbk, for the operation of Kediri Airport.
The airport, in East Java, is expected to cater to both domestic and international flights, providing a much-needed boost to the local economy and tourism industry. With an estimated investment value of IDR 10 trillion (about USD 670 million), Kediri Airport is the first entirely privately funded airport in Indonesia.
The signing of the Joint Operation Agreement took place in Jakarta in March 2023, with the signing attended by the CEO of AP I, Faik Fahmi, and the CEO of SDHI, Istata Siddharta. Under the Joint Operation Agreement, AP I will manage and operate the airport, while SDHI will build and develop Kediri Airport. The signing of the Joint Operation Agreement marks the official collaboration between the two companies in the operation and development of the 5,898-hectare airport.
SSEK played a critical role in advising AP I on the negotiation, drafting, and finalization of the Joint Operation Agreement. The SSEK team working on the transaction was led by partner Dewi Savitri Reni, with senior associate Aldilla Suwana and associates Fadhira Mediana and Rafi Rahadi.
