The shareholders in Kraftinor and SKS Kraftsalg recently approved the merger of the power retail businesses of SKS Kraftsalg and Kraftinor. Kraftinor is owned by Lofotkraft and Nordkraft, and SKS Kraftsalg is owned by Salten Kraftsamband. In total, the companies traded in excess of MNOK 720 in 2016.

The merged company will change its name to Polar kraft and will have approx. 70,000 customers, with an ambition to become the largest retail power supplier in the north of Norway. The merger will take effect from 1 January 2018. The goal is to develop a power company that will deliver competitive products to customers in the future power market.

SKS Kraftsalg will remain a wholesale power trading company following the merger.
