The Slovenian and Croatian governments are working on the necessary regulation for the 20-year extension of the retirement date for the nuclear power plant Krsko (NEK), which they run jointly. At the same time, they are considering the possibility to install a second unit and GEN-I Group has requested the energy permit.

In order to extend the plant’s operation until 2043, the operator of the NEK must make an environmental impact assessment and obtain an environmental permit (as ruled by the Slovenian Environmental Agency (Arso)).
