Leading legal and consulting firm ROBALINO is pleased to announce it has successfully advised Orion Energy Ecuador in the renegotiation of its exploration and exploitation contracts for Blocks 52 and 54 with the Government of Ecuador. The deal involves a committed investment of approximately USD 119 million over the next six years.
Following a comprehensive three-year negotiation process, the signed amendment agreements extend the contractual terms by ten years, allowing Orion Energy to continue its operations in the Sucumbíos province until 2042. The investment program focuses on drilling new development wells and enhancing production efficiency, aiming for a projected output increase of over 15 million barrels across both blocks.
The ROBALINO team was led by Partners Javier Robalino Orellana and Andrés Donoso, supported by Of Counsel Ernesto Velasco and Senior Associates Cristina Coello and Galo Guarderas. The firm provided strategic legal counsel throughout the structuring, documentation, and execution of the revised contractual framework, ensuring alignment with Ecuador's current policies to promote private investment in the hydrocarbons sector.
This transaction underscores Orion Energy’s long-term commitment to Ecuador, following its strategic consolidation by Sagittarius Energy. ROBALINO continues to solidify its reputation as the go-to firm for complex, high-stakes mandates in the energy and natural resources sectors.
