Berwins Solicitors is celebrating its latest accolade, which sees the Harrogate based law firm recognised as a leading authority on older client law in Yorkshire.

Following the recent qualification of Associate Hollie Marcham as a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly – the fifth member of the firm to achieve the benchmark – Berwins now boasts more SFE specialists than any other Yorkshire based law firm.

Solicitors for the Elderly is an independent, national organisation of legal professionals who provide specialist advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. Highly regarded within the profession, the status is only awarded to individuals who have gained both significant experience in the field and undergone a unique qualification with exacting assessment criteria.

Head of Berwns’ Life team, Julie Jewers said “It’s a fantastic achievement for both Hollie and the firm and highlights the commitment we show to our clients.

“As a firm, we pride ourselves on putting care at the heart of everything and having five lawyers specialising in offering support for older people is a real reflection of this focus.”

Explaining what the qualification means for clients, Hollie added “Specialising in this area is about more than just having sound legal knowledge – though of course that’s essential.

“It’s knowing how to identify some of the anxieties or conditions which people could be experiencing and understanding how to work with them to put people at their ease and help find the right solution for them.”

The achievement caps off an eventful 12 months for Hollie, which has also seen her gain a prestigious qualification from the Society of Estate and Trust Practitioners and promotion to Associate at Berwins Solicitors.
