The Philippine Institute of Arbitrators, Inc. (PIArb) recently hosted a panel discussion focusing on the quantification of damages in international arbitration. The event took place at the SyCipLaw Center in Makati City, and attracted a diverse audience of lawyers, engineers, law students, and other professionals.
The esteemed panel featured prominent experts: Jesusito Morallos, senior partner at Follosco Morallos & Herce Law Firm and PIArb president emeritus; Hamish Egan, director and head of commercial damages and valuation at Perun Consultants; and Ma. Patricia B. Paz-Jacoba, partner at SyCipLaw. Together, they explored the complexities involved in determining damages, sharing best practices and current trends adopted by parties and arbitral tribunals to effectively prove and establish claims. Mr. Jeffrey Constantino, partner at Cadiz Tabayoyong Hilado & Constantino Law Offices and PIArb Vice President for Fellowships and Member Relations, moderated the discussions.
