Law Firm Pepeliaev Group has continued to perform positively at the top of The Legal 500 international ratings. 

The firm's Real Estate and Construction Practice has made the leap to Tier 2. In the researchers’ opinion, our team ‘provides comprehensive support and excellent advice throughout each stage of a project pulling out all the necessary steps to ensure that the project is implemented’. Partner in the practice, Natalia Stenina, ‘has in-depth knowledge of Russian construction legislation’. 

Our Energy and Natural Resources Group has also improved on last year's performance, pushing forward by one level to Tier 4. According to the experts’ estimates, Pepeliaev Group's team has ‘in-depth knowledge of Russian oil and gas legislation, along with solid commercial understanding’. Sergey Pepeliaev ‘has significant energy tax expertise’, and Natalia Stenina is ‘a real rainmaker, with the energy and commitment to drive projects forward’. 

In the newly created category associated with providing services to private clients Pepeliaev Group has made it straight into Tier 3. The experts note that the firm specialises in family and inheritance law, and advises on asset ownership structuring, personal data protection and immigration issues, among other matters. 

Pepeliaev Group has maintained its leading position in tax (Tier 1). The team ‘always tries to get a deep understanding of the client’s business and the case at hand’, and offers ‘comprehensive and detailed responses within the agreed timeframe’. Senior Partner Rustem Ahmetshin has extensive tax dispute experience, and Sergey Pepeliaev advises on corporate and personal taxation issues. The firm is also rated in high positions in the fields of Employment and Competition (Tier 2 in each case). The Employment Practice provides ‘a thorough risk analysis of each matter along with suggestions on how to mitigate accordingly’. Partner Julia Borozdna is ‘very personable’ and advises on employment disputes. Our Antitrust Practice’s lawyers are ‘quickly able to understand the specifics of each business sector and offer solution-oriented, business-focused advice’. Elena Sokolovskaya heads the practice, and has extensive experience of conducting antimonopoly-related due diligence and representing companies before the antitrust regulator. 

The IP and Trademarks Practice is ranked in Tier 2. The experts note that the firm provides ‘a high level of professional support’ and is ‘a valuable partner in IP issues’. Practice head Valentina Orlova is praised for her ‘thorough analysis of complex issues and efficient support across the full range of registration processes’. 

The TMT Group (Tier 3) is represented by Rustem Ahmetshin and Partner Natalia Kovalenko, who regularly advises on regulatory issues in the field media and telecoms. 

The Dispute Resolution and Mediation Practice is ranked in Tier 4. The experts note that Partner Yuriy Vorobyev focuses on disputes in the financial services sector, and Roman Bevzenko has a strong track record in commercial disputes related to real estate and construction. The Finance and Banking Practice is also ranked in Tier 4 and specialises in disputes and bankruptcy matters. Partner Igor Marmalidi advises in the sphere of banking law and securities regulation, and on international financial and investment transactions. Senior Partner Ivan Khamenushko advises on the full spectrum of banking-related tax issues. 

Our Corporate Practice (St. Petersburg) has taken a step up from last year's rating, reaching Tier 2. The experts commend Partner Sergey Spasennov, who specialises in foreign direct investments, restructuring and real estate transactions. Sergey Sosnovsky, the Head of Tax Practice, advises on the tax aspects of transactions in the banking, real estate and oil and gas sectors.
