Shearman & Sterling advised Osaka Gas and its U.S. subsidiary Osaka Gas USA Corporation (OGUSA) in connection with the agreement with Oriden LLC (Oriden), a U.S.-based renewable project developer, to jointly develop a portfolio of more than 700 MWdc (600 MWac) of utility-scale solar and storage projects throughout certain U.S. markets.

This follows OGUSA’s acquisition of the 15.7 MWdc Brighter Future Solar Farm project in North Carolina, from Oriden in partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group.

OGUSA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. The company focuses on four core businesses: power generation, shale gas development, natural gas liquefaction at Freeport LNG and future energy development/innovation.

The Shearman & Sterling team was led by partner Karl Pires and associates Yuki Shirato and Masashi Shimojo (all Tokyo-Mergers & Acquisitions).
