ONGAWA Engineering for Human Development, better known as ONGAWA, is a Non-Governmental Organization of Spanish origin, oriented to human development and whose mission is to build a more just and supportive society through the implementation of technology.
García & Bodán advised ONGAWA in the preparation of all the information required to register as a Non-Governmental Organization according to the Guatemalan legislation in force. The advice included the review of the legal documents sent from the parent company, necessary to carry out the process in Guatemala, the notarization of each of these documents, meetings with public officials of the Registry of Legal Entities (REPEJU) and the Ministry of the Interior to clarify legal aspects of ONGAWA's operation in Guatemala, among others. Likewise, advice was provided in the follow-up of the entire registration process before the respective governmental authorities until the corresponding registration was obtained.
The advisory was carried out under the supervision of Senior Associate Andrés Cofiño and Associate Paúl Rodríguez.
The projects developed by ONGAWA aim to reduce the incidence of diarrheal diseases in rural areas of Sololá, promoting the fulfillment of the human rights to water and sanitation through the improvement of the management capacities of communities and municipalities, especially those related to the monitoring and control of water quality. Women's empowerment and participation in community management spaces are one of the essential drivers to achieve this.
