The list pulls together a range of professionals from leasehold campaigners, managing agents and building owners to investors, developers and lawyers.
The entries are gathers subjectively according to the publications knowledge and experience of the industry.
- Hema Anand, Partner – leading the residential department at Bircham Dyson Bell, Hema has over 16 years’ experience in all aspects of high-net-worth residential property and leasehold enfranchisement. She is known for successfully handling group actions and complicated enfranchisement claims. Hema was awarded Highly Commended at the ERMAs in 2011, 2012 and 2014, and won the Association of Women Solicitors’ Best Woman in a Property Practice Award 2011.
- John Stephenson, Senior Partner – John served the first ever collective enfranchisement claim notice on the day the 1993 Act came into force in 1994, and has been a leading practitioner in the field of leasehold reform since that date. He has acted mainly, but not exclusively, for tenants, especially those on the Grosvenor, Cadogan and other leading London estates, and has been involved in many of the leading court and tribunal cases in the field, including three which went to the House of Lords or Supreme Court. His practice now includes advising many of the buildings which he has helped to enfranchise on the many management issues which arise with leaseholder-owned blocks, and especially enjoys guiding clients through the personality as well as legal challenges which arise, so as to endure that the freehold project is a long-term success.
