Lisbon, 28 October 2021 - Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados (Morais Leitão), through a team lead by the consultant Cláudia Castanheira dos Santos, advised Banco BPI and Banco Empresas Montepio in the subscription of Sonae Capital's first issue of Project Green Bonds, structured as project finance.
This issuance, amounting to 40.8 million euros, is intended to finance the Mangualde biomass power plant, currently operated by Capwatt, which produces renewable energy from residual forest biomass, to promote the production process of sustainable wood-based panels developed by Sonae Arauco.
This operation was performed through Sociedade de Iniciativa e Aproveitamentos Florestais - Energia, S.A. owned by Capwatt, a subsidiary of the company controlled by Efanor, the holding company of the Azevedo family.
