FCA Argentina S.A. acquired 14.2% of the shares of McEwen Copper Inc., a company incorporated under the laws of Canada, through the issuance of treasury shares by McEwen Copper Inc. and the transfer of shares owned by McEwen Mining Inc.

This transaction is essential for Stellantis to expand the market in which it operates in Argentina, since it will have certain rights to purchase copper when the Argentinian subsidiary of McEwen Copper Inc., Andes Corporación Minera S.A., begins to operate. In addition, through this investment, Stellantis is moving forward to reach carbon neutrality by the year 2038. The deal amounts to a total of ARS 30,000,000,000.

Stellantis was represented by in-house attorneys Julian Ignacio Burgo, General Counsel of Stellantis in Argentina, and Francisco Belluci, Senior Attorney and in charge of the company’s insurance.

On the other hand, Marval O’Farrell Mairal and McCarthy Tétrault advised the company in the transaction, which involved different jurisdictions. Marval’s team was led by partners Diego Krischcautzky, María Macarena Garcia Mirri, and Leonardo Gabriel Rodriguez, together with associates Lucia Diana Trillo and Agustin Hernan Queirolo; whilst McCarthy Tétrault acted through partner Shawn Doyle along with associates Peter Quon and Alexandra Comber.
