Law360 sat down with Yankwitt LLP Founder and Managing Partner Russell Yankwitt and the firm’s newest partner, former SDNY Deputy Chief of the White Plains Division Jason Swergold, for the 4-1-1 on the firm and what makes it a place where four former AUSAs want to work.

In the Q&A, Jason explained three things that attracted him to Yankwitt LLP. He wanted a small firm and the ability to both build his own white-collar practice and help grow the firm’s criminal defense practice with the existing folks at Yankwitt LLP. Jason also talked about his love of trying cases and how Yankwitt LLP is a place where he would have the opportunity to do that.

Russell shared with Law360 that he attributes his firm’s ability to attract top-quality talent, particularly AUSAs, to both “the propensity to take cases to trial – which scratches an itch to erstwhile prosecutors – and its emphasis on giving attorneys as much time for their families as possible.”

Russell explained that his vision for the practice is not to compete with New York City law firms. Instead, he’s focused on building the best team for his clients, with his eye on serving Westchester’s needs in high-stakes civil litigation and criminal defense.
