On November 14, 2024, Suzano International Finance B.V. successfully issued RMB 1.2 billion 3-year green panda bonds in the China Interbank Bond Market. The bonds were guaranteed by the issuer's controlling shareholder, Suzano S.A. This was the first time that Suzano International Finance B.V. had issued RMB panda bonds in the China Interbank Bond Market. They were also the first panda bonds issued by a South American company as well as the first green bonds to be issued in China’s pulp industry.
Established in Brazil over 100 years ago, Suzano is a large-scale commodity pulp producer. It produces pulp (such as paper-grade pulp and fluff pulp), and paper (such as cardboard, printing and writing paper, and tissue paper). Suzano is one of the lowest-cost pulp producers in the world, with products exported to over 100 countries and regions globally. It is one of the largest vertically integrated pulp and paper producers in Latin America.
