HOUSTON - John Zavitsanos, a co-founder of AZA, was named to the Lawdragon 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know 2026 honorees list. He also made this list in 2025.

Lawdragon editors said of the awarded lawyers: “They inspire and lead as never before. They are impassioned, inclusive and represent a new era of what it looks like to lead a law firm.”

The editors said “These leaders ... reminded us once again of the critical importance of leaders willing to embrace a positive vision of the future and find ways to achieve it. For some, that’s measured in dollars or footprint in global markets. For others, inclusion, opportunity and well-being. For others still preserving a legacy.”

Mr. Zavitsanos has previously been named to Lawdragon’s most prestigious 500 Leading Lawyers in America list and its 500 Leading Litigators in America, 500 Leading Plaintiff Financial Lawyers and 500 Leading Energy Lawyers lists.

He has also received many other national honors. He has tried more than 100 cases to verdict in litigation that runs the gamut, and he is one of a handful of lawyers in Texas to achieve a Band 1 ranking in both commercial litigation and trial expertise by the London-based Chambers and Partners. He is the primary author of O’Connor’s Texas Rules * Civil Trials 2018-2026, the premier civil trial rules guide for Texas lawyers and judges.

Lawdragon says it chooses winners through research, studying which professionals have had significant impact, including an emphasis on recent matters handled. It vets candidates with peers and other critical observers.
