HONG KONG – May 28, 2019 – Jingtian & Gongcheng announced the milestone opening of its Hong Kong office, following its recent merger with L&C Legal LLP. The launch event, which was attended by over 400 guests, was held on Tuesday evening at the Mandarin Oriental – symbolically chosen, as the Mandarin itself is an integral part of Hong Kong's landscape and history.
Hosted by Zhao Yang, Chairman of Jingtian & Gongcheng, and Elaine Lo, Senior Partner of its Hong Kong office, and against a backdrop of excitement and anticipation, the evening's event opened with a brief speech by Ms. Teresa Cheng, Secretary for Justice of HKSAR. Along with Secretary Cheng, guests-of-honor included Mr. C.Y. Leung, Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the former Chief Executive of HKSAR; Mr. Yang Jianping, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Mr. C.K. Chow, Chairman of Hong Kong's Urban Renewal Authority and Immediate Past Chairman of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; and Ms Melissa Pang, President of the Hong Kong Law Society.
