HONG KONG – April 11, 2019 – Jingtian & Gongcheng ("Jingtian") today announced a significant expansion of its dispute resolution capabilities through the addition of a highly experienced team from RPC. Incoming Partners, Gary Yin and Ben Yates, bring with them extensive experience in litigation, arbitration, regulatory compliance, and forensic investigations.

Zhao Yang, Chairman of Jingtian & Gongcheng, remarked, "In advance of our merger with L&C Legal LLP, which will be completed at the end of this month, we are pleased to announce the further growth of our Hong Kong office with the imminent arrival of Gary Yin and Ben Yates. The addition of this experienced dispute resolution team strengthens our ability to deliver the top-tier, sector-focused capabilities our clients deserve and expect. This is part of our strategic expansion to solidify our existing capabilities in markets outside the key gateway cities in Mainland China. I would like to personally welcome Gary and Ben to our firm."

With deep experience in leading the handling and resolution of China-related cross-border commercial and trade, company shareholders and directors, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and shipping and logistics disputes, Gary Yin heads a practice that comprises complex international arbitration and court cases for Hong Kong, Mainland Chinese, and foreign entities. Mr. Yin is a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a panel arbitrator of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration. He further strengthens his experience advising on China affairs and related legal issues through his active participation in the Law Society of Hong Kong's Greater China Legal Affairs Committee.

Having devoted a significant period of time studying Mandarin in Mainland China, Ben Yates advises clients on a wide range of complex disputes that often involve cross-border aspects between the PRC and other countries within the region. His practice includes heading technology-related litigation and arbitration relating to fintech, cyber law, data protection and fraud. He regularly advises clients on the collection, use and exploitation of personal data and on the management of data security incidents. In addition, Mr. Yates has particular experience on disputes relating to bitcoin security incidents and issues surrounding the implementation and use of blockchain technology.

"Following our recent announcement of our upcoming merger with Jingtian & Gongcheng, we are delighted to welcome Gary Yin and Ben Yates to Jingtian's Hong Kong team," added Elaine Lo, incoming Senior Partner of Jingtian & Gongcheng LLP's Hong Kong office upon conclusion of the merger. Our service offering will now span across corporate and commercial law, litigation, arbitration and mediation. Gary and Ben also bring to Jingtian & Gongcheng their deep experience advising on the licensing requirements of innovative technologies and related products, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, cryptocurrency exchanges and cryptocurrencies, tokens, and securities.
