Paris, 26 November 2020 – Jeantet advises the British group Kingfisher, a European leading Do-it-yourself (DIY) retailer, on the acquisition of the French start-up NeedHelp.
Having become the majority shareholder of the French jobbing platform (up to 80% of the capital), Kingfisher, which already owns the French brands Brico Dépôt and Castorama, aims to strengthen its skills in digitization and expand its services offering available within these French and international distribution networks. This acquisition follows the development in June 2018 of a partnership between NeedHelp and the Group’s French brands.
Created in 2014 by Guillaume de Kergariou, NeedHelp is a B2B2C online platform that connects customers who need home improvement help, either in-store or online, with vetted professional tradespeople and other skilled experts, to carry out in particular do-it-yourself and gardening work. Following this operation, its founder retains 20% of the company and will continue to run it.
Jeantet team was led by Thierry Brun (Partner) and included Maxime Brotz, Marianne Chevallier (Counsels), as well as Maria Plakci and Pak-Hang Li (Associates) for Corporate/M&A aspects, Jean-Guillaume Follorou (Partner), Gabriel di Chiara (Counsel) and François-Xavier Simeoni (Associate) for Tax, Laetitia Ternisien (Counsel) and Augustin Charoy (Associate) for Labor Law matters.
