The Philippine chapter of the International Comparative Legal Guide (ICLG) – Shipping Laws and Regulations 2026 has been published, providing an overview of the legal and regulatory framework governing the shipping and maritime industry in the Philippines. The guide covers 30 jurisdictions and examines a broad range of topics, including marine casualty, cargo claims, passenger claims, arrest and security, evidence, procedure, foreign judgments and awards, offshore wind and renewable energy, and recent developments in the sector.

Authored by SyCipLaw Partner Russel L. Rodriguez and Senior Associate Joachim Alfonso P. Dompor, the Philippine chapter discusses key maritime laws, regulations, and jurisprudence affecting shipping operations and maritime commerce in the country. It addresses issues such as liability arising from marine casualties, the carriage of goods by sea, passenger claims, maritime liens, vessel arrest procedures, admiralty actions, and the enforcement of maritime claims. The chapter also highlights relevant international conventions and domestic legislation applicable to the Philippine shipping industry. Associate Jon Ericson T. Ledesma assisted in the preparation of the chapter.

The Philippine chapter may be accessed on the ICLG website through its Shipping Laws and Regulations 2026 guide.
