The Funding Network’s January Funding Evening at Goodman Derrick’s offices raised over £35,000 for social change projects.
Celine Gagnon, Chief Executive of The Funding Network, commented:
"We are hugely grateful to Goodman Derrick for hosting our first live crowdfunding event of 2017 with such generosity and good humour. The team at Goodman Derrick helped us raise over £35,000 for 4 projects, tackling urgent social needs such as homelessness and mental well-being. The Funding Network is proud of its association with Goodman Derrick and look forward to continuing to provide staff members with a unique opportunity to engage in philanthropy and to making a positive difference to the world one project at a time."
Morgan Wolfe, Trainee Solicitor at Goodman Derrick commented:
"TFN is Dragon’s Den with a heart. The Funding Network brings together innovative social entrepreneurs with investors who really understand the charitable landscape in an exciting, crowd-funding forum. Four projects were invited to pitch: a girls’ secondary school in Kenya’s Masai Maara, an organisation helping young people succeed as first time renters, a charity making music in migrant detention centres and a project to strengthen the capacity of orphanages around the world. Each project had six minutes to pitch and another six to answer questions from TFN member-investors. Having a good idea is not enough: presenters must be prepared to address anything from revenue streams and organisational structure to community outreach. I am delighted that Goodman Derrick is working with TFN and am grateful to everyone who attended, donated and gave their time to these inspirational and much-needed projects."
The Funding Network is a charity which hosts live crowdfunding events for small charities facilitating social change. Pitching their projects were:
