Gabriel Zaliasnik is not a new name in the world of top Litigation lawyers in Chile. In 1991 he became one of the founding partners of the law firm Albagli Zaliasnik, where he has built his career as a lawyer, focusing on highly complex litigation, ranging from constitutional law to economic crimes.

Having headed the criminal procedure reform commission and being a professor at the U. de Chile Law School, his accumulated experience has led to Chambers & Partners currently distinguishing him as one of the best lawyers in two categories: White Collar Crime and Litigation.

Zaliasnik has participated in the public discussion of his country in different ways, but it has been in his opinion columns (mostly published in the newspaper La Tercera) where he has systematically reflected on the political and social crisis that was visibly installed with the so-called "explosion" of October 18, 2019.

In his new book, “El León enfermo y los zorros,” he brings together his opinion columns of the last three years, in which he has systematically reflected on the political and social crisis of October 18, 2019, the consequence of which is the constituent process and the proposal for a new constitution that will be put to a plebiscite.

“Politics and litigation have always been very intermingled. I have always understood it to be important that we as citizens have an opinion, that we all participate in the public debate.  The columns included in this book become something like a thermometer of what is going on, of what is happening with regards to the contingency issues in the political sphere, as well as the rule of law.” Explains Zalisasnik of his new book.

The book is slated to be released by the publishing house: Ediciones El Líbero, and on Monday, July 11 at 6:00 pm (GMT-4) the launch event will be streamed live where there will be interactive conversation between the author and political analyst Max Colodro.
