China Arbitration Summit 2016 (the Summit), the year’s most important event for the China arbitration community, was held on September 27-29, 2016 in Beijing, providing a platform for international arbitration practitioners to share their views on latest academic and practical issues in arbitration and push forward the development of international arbitration. East & Concord Partners was invited to participate in the Summit. Mr. Qi Zhou, the managing partner and the head of the Firm’s Dispute Resolution team, and other key partners of the team Mr. Jinsheng Han, Mr. Chunlei Yang and Mr. Dong Wang, and associates Mr. Chaoyi Ji and Ms. Xinpin Yang, attended the Summit to hold discussions with other experts in the industry.
Specifically, this Summit marked the 60th anniversary of China’s foreign related arbitration and the establishment of CIETAC. The Summit’s theme “Inheritance, Innovation and Harmonization”, focused on new trends and hot issues of international and China arbitration under the “One Belt and One Road Initiative”, and held discussions regarding the future development, a retrospect of the 60-year history of China’s foreign related arbitration, Chinese perspective of international commercial arbitration, positive experiences from international arbitration in China, all demonstrating China’s efforts to establish itself as a center for international arbitration.
