March 5, 2019 - Dentons is pleased to announce that Mike Harris has joined the Firm as a partner in our Tax group.

Based in Edmonton, Mike’s practice focuses primarily on corporate tax planning and reorganization, as well as tax litigation, compliance and dispute resolution.

“We are delighted to welcome Mike to the Firm,” said Fausto Franceschi, Managing Partner of Dentons’ Edmonton office. “He provides sage legal counsel to his clients on corporate reorganizations, including share and asset rollovers, butterfly transactions among related parties, stock dividends, share redemptions, debt assignments/assumptions and debt-to-equity conversions. His extensive knowledge and experience will undoubtedly benefit our clients, as well as our team.”

Mike regularly assists clients with GST issues, including on the sale of real property and applicability to amounts paid as settlements. He also advises on employment benefit issues and salary deferral arrangements, and provides international clients with advice on “Canadianizing” share plans, specifically for US entities wishing to provide plans to Canadian employees, and other Canada-US outbound and inbound investment issues.

Mike received his Bachelor of Science and his Bachelor of Law from the University of Alberta, and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2011.
