ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2017) — Statewide law firm Broad and Cassel today announced the addition of James A. Lovegren in Orlando as of counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group. Lovegren brings a broad-based real estate law background and nearly 30 years of experience in the real estate industry.
His practice focuses on real estate transactional matters, including retail, office and warehouse leasing, and the acquisition, sale, financing, development and redevelopment of commercial property. During his career, he has been involved in several multi-million dollar transactions, including a recent $80 million real estate component of a $500-plus million corporate transaction and the real estate component of a transaction involving the purchase of a corporate entity controlling a cultural icon’s assets.
Prior to joining Broad and Cassel, Lovegren was a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig. His previous work includes the redevelopment of shopping centers and the repositioning of golf courses to sell as well as managing the real estate component of complex deals for several Broward County charter schools.
“The prospect of joining Broad and Cassel was intriguing due to the complexity of the group’s work in real estate development,” said Lovegren. “Over the course of my legal career, I’ve had the privilege of sitting on the opposite side of several firm attorneys and know firsthand the great reputation they have built in and out of state, individually and for the firm.”
Active in community and professional organizations, Lovegren is a board member for the Florida Singing Sons, an internationally recognized boy choir founded in 1975 and has held numerous leadership positions at his church, including chairing the endowment committee, a member of the vestry and currently serving as chancellor since January 2015. Lovegren is also a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar and the American Bar Association.
Lovegren holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary and a master's degree from the University of Virginia. He received his juris doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Additionally, he maintains a real estate broker’s license, which he has carried for more than 25 years.
