Beccar Varela advised GDM (Grupo Don Mario) on the signing of the agreement for the acquisition of KWS's corn and sorghum business in South America. The announcement of the transaction took place on March 25th and is subject to the approval of Argentine and Brazilian regulatory bodies. The parties agreed not to disclose the details of the transaction or the exact purchase price.
The agreement includes the acquisition of all corn and sorghum breeding and sales activities in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay) from KWS, as well as all corn and sorghum production sites in Brazil and corn production in Argentina, involving approximately 700 employees.
GDM is a global group that researches, develops and commercializes proprietary intellectual property products in field crop genetics. It operates in 15 countries, with a total of 1,800 employees.
KWS is one of the world’s leading plant breeding companies. Present in more than 70 countries, it has over 5,000 employees, excluding seasonal workforce.
