We are pleased to announce that Bora Ikiler has joined BASEAK's Competition law, Public Policy and Regulation team as Counsel.
Bora brings 12 years of law firm experience, gained working on competition law matters for local and global clients. He represented clients in Turkish Competition Authority investigations, both in written and oral phases. Bora advised clients during review, planning and execution of regulatory filings for exemptions and clearances applicable to restrictive agreements and practices and merger control. He has notable experience advising business models involving vertical relations and industries that face peculiar competition law obstacles or unique logistical challenges, such as the healthcare, automotive and cement sectors.
Bora led teams in risk monitoring projects and provided trainings and strategic legal advice to mitigate identified risks. Specifically, he regularly supported clients to develop a practical and tailored understanding of their specific competition law risks through audits and mock dawn raid sessions. He presented training seminars addressing the monitored risks and developed bespoke workplace policies.
Besides his competition law capabilities, Bora worked with various Turkish and international clients in structuring and implementing corporate and commercial projects and transactions.
Bora also has broad experience in regulatory and compliance works, including handling internal anti-corruption investigations and conducting due diligence checks under local and foreign anti-corruption legislations. He has been actively involved in drafting company policies, checking current compliance and ensuring applications are in line with internal policies or legislation.
Bora spent the first 7 years of his legal career in one of the leading competition law practices in Turkey From 2014–2018, he lead the Competition Law practice of a prominent Turkish law firm in Istanbul. A number of well-known global legal directories have repeatedly praised Bora’s competition law work.
Bora earned an LLB from the Bilkent University Faculty of Law in 2006 (Hons), and he holds two LL.M. degrees, from Istanbul Bilgi University and the University of Michigan respectively. He has been a member of the Istanbul Bar Association since 2007.
