HOUSTON – AZA partner Monica Uddin won the Houston Bar Association’s President’s Award for her committee leadership.

Ms. Uddin served as co-chair of the organization’s Gender Fairness Committee for the last three years. She led the committee’s effort to form a new Women in the Law section of the local bar, designed to “examine issues related to women in the legal profession, including gender fairness,” by developing “programming and promoting awareness of these issues, including through CLEs and mentoring opportunities.” She will serve as membership vice chair of that new section.

The bar association awards dinner was held May 7 at the Hotel Thompson on Allen Parkway.

Ms. Uddin also was honored last month by the Association of Women Attorneys Foundation with a Premier Women in the Law Award. She was cited “as a fierce advocate for your clients, thoughtful leader within AZA, action-oriented champion across multiple social and community fronts, and your perseverance balancing the demands of those roles while raising a family.”

Ms. Uddin is a trial lawyer and the hiring partner at AZA. She was recently recognized as one of only 240 lawyers nationwide named to the BTI Client Service All-Stars in 2025. That list is compiled through a survey of corporate counsel and those who regularly use top-drawer legal services.

She has also been recognized annually as a Texas Rising Star and then as a Texas Super Lawyer in business litigation, by The Best Lawyers in America as “One to Watch” and by Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Litigators in America. She is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a board member of the South Asian Bar Association of Houston.

AZA, or Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing, is a Houston-based law firm that is home to true courtroom lawyers with a formidable track record in complex commercial litigation, including energy, healthcare, intellectual property and business dispute cases.
