HOUSTON – Texas Super Lawyers has named AZA a top business litigation firm, and with good reason: The firm is already 4-0 in the new Texas Business Courts.
The Super Lawyers group, a division of Thomson Reuters, announced a 2026 top lawyers and law firms list. AZA co-founders John Zavitsanos and Joe Ahmad have both been named Top 100 in Texas, and they are joined by Todd Mensing for Top 100 in Houston.
Thirty-five AZA lawyers, more than half of the firm, were named earlier this year to the Texas Super Lawyers and Rising Stars 2026 lists for excellence, largely in business litigation and intellectual property work.
AZA’s business litigation prowess has been on display in the new state business courts. The firm’s clients won the first trial in these courts, beating a $26.5 million claim against its oil company client. AZA also won the second business court trial, saving another energy sector client $200 million.
AZA had its third significant win when the firm parachuted in weeks before trial, facing a claim that could climb to $100 million, and won it — in pretrial, no less — getting millions back for a client from an energy giant.
The firm went 4-0 on Texas Business Court cases when it prevailed in September in a David and Goliath trial between court reporting services.
