HOUSTON – The Houston Business Journal’s rankings of the fastest-growing middle-market businesses in the Houston region named AZA as the fastest-growing law firm.
AZA ranked 14th among all area middle-market businesses based on percent of revenue growth for the last two years. The list includes companies in law, construction, design, plastics, architecture, homes, engineering and hotels. See the list here.
“We’re a law firm that actually goes to trial constantly, and despite lamentations about the death of jury trials, we’ve grown steadily and substantially since our humble beginnings in 1993,” said John Zavitsanos, managing partner and co-founder of the firm with Joe Ahmad. “We even won the first two trials in the newly formed Texas Business Courts, where a lot of the complex commercial litigation in the state is migrating.”
AZA has grown significantly in the last few years, expanding to nearly 70 lawyers, nearly 100 employees and 2025 revenue of $74 million. AZA also recently opened a Dallas office, its first outside of Houston.
Only companies that met Houston Business Journal’s criteria were included in the survey. The publication stated “companies must have been operating for at least five years, generated between $28 million and $1 billion in revenue for their most recent, completed fiscal year, and headquartered in one of the following Texas counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto or Waller. Nonprofits, governmental or quasi-governmental entities were excluded.”
Houston trial boutique Ahmad Zavitsanos & Mensing, or AZA, has earned repeated recognition from Chambers USA among the best in Texas in commercial law and intellectual property; the firm has been listed by Best Lawyers’ Best Law Firms as one of the country’s best commercial litigation firms for 13 years; has been named Litigation Department of the Year by Texas Lawyer three times; and was dubbed a Texas Powerhouse law firm by Law360.
